The journey begins

Sometimes things come together for a reason. People cross your path, spark an idea, and change the direction of your life. That's exactly what happened here.
While riding at my local barn, I shared the arena with an 11-year-old girl. I knew some of the challenges she had faced because, years earlier, I had responded as the police officer to one of the most difficult moments in her family's life. Calls like that are never easy. In those moments, all you can do is try to help people find a way through the pain.
On that day at the barn, I watched her ride. The horse gave her confidence, peace, and freedom—if only for a little while. As I rode alongside her, I realized something else: the experience was healing for me, too.
In that arena, a horse helped two people carry burdens that words could never fully express.
That night, lying in bed, the idea for Unbroken Children's Foundation came to me. What if more children facing grief, trauma, and life's hardest challenges could experience the same healing power of horses?
That simple question became a mission.
And that's where the journey began.
