The calls I never forget.

During my years as a police officer, I responded to countless calls where children were experiencing some of the worst moments of their lives. Sometimes it was the loss of a parent, a serious accident, addiction in the home, or a traumatic event that would forever change their world. As first responders, we do our best to bring comfort and stability, but there are moments when all we can do is stand beside a child and witness their grief.

Those experiences leave an impact—not only on the children, but on the officers who carry those memories long after the call is over. You never forget the faces of children whose lives were changed in an instant.

Years later, I found healing in an unexpected place: a horse arena. Watching a child connect with a horse is something special. Horses don't judge, ask questions, or expect explanations. They simply meet a child where they are. Through trust, patience, and companionship, horses can help children rebuild confidence, process difficult emotions, and find hope again.

The Unbroken Children's Foundation was born from that belief. For me, helping children experience the healing power of horses is more than giving back—it's a way to honor the children I've met throughout my career and to help transform painful memories into something positive. Every child we help strengthens not only their own journey, but also the spirit of those who have dedicated their lives to serving them.

If this mission speaks to you, please consider making a gift today. A single riding lesson can cost between $80 and $100, and therapeutic equine sessions can cost even more. Your support can help provide a child with an opportunity to find confidence, hope, and healing through horses.

Together, we can help a child discover that while life may leave scars, they are never truly broken.
